Just a mix of stuff that I typically throw at an image without practicing any rigourous discipline. Harkens back to a technique of mixing Real and Abstract imagery together. Something I used to do a lot of, come to think of it.

I did this pretty quick with the loacded oils brush. The monitor was my mirror. It's a pretty good likeness, and it does feel like me enough to send it off.

Okay, I cheated just a little bit. I took a photo of me 'trying' to play golf (just a wannabe Justin Leonard or Tiger Woods). I used Painter and here's what I did: erased background, then used a tan color and brushed around the photo using the "Big Dry Ink" brush, then I used "Apply Surface Texture" (which, by the way I love this function of Painter) and used the Image Luminance, I then took the "Big Dry Ink" brush again and painted black edges around the image. Then I used the Text function and then used "Apply Surface Texture" to give my fonts a beveled look. Voila, I "tried" art. I'm an internet designer and consultant.

I took the photo with a digital camera and changed the eye with the image hose. Applied lighting effects. The eye is such an interesting structure. Would have used someone elses but mine was the only one available.

Painted with the watercolor and charcoal brushes in Painter by using a mirror. Then I flipped the image horizontally to orient to the view that others see. I was surprised how much less the image looked like me with this orientation.

I am an artist and a microbiologist. I work full time as a microbiologist at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. I find my greatest joy during my personal time painting and working in computer graphics. With this image I started off with a digital pict and cloned it. I used tracing paper to lay in the shapes. I turned off the clone source and used the original pict as a reference. I laid in color using Painter's "Artist Pastel Chalk". The colors were blended using the "Just Add Water" brush. The image was built by adding lighter and darker shades of color and blending with the "Just Add Water".
