Digital-Artist Gallery - The Art of Dreaming   Page: 1 2 3
dreaming....sometimes so real, it's difficult to distinguish reality from dreaming, or perhaps one need not do so. Why have we been taught to consider dreaming not "real"? Sometimes the most exquisite images and passions are experienced while in a dream state. This state-of-mind pushes the envelope of color, design and visual feasting, and is often the catalyst for literal renderings of those experiences. - Victoria Lenne
Title: Chicago Window Chicago Window
Artist: Michael Coble
WWW Site: http://www.panix.com/~coble/
Description:

For me, the Art of Dreaming is about the reflection between the life that we live in during the day, and the journey our spirit makes once the eyes close and the journey to other worlds begin. The portal between the waking world and the dreaming one is present in either state, but like a reflection, it is not easy to navigate through. So, when we first awake, our memories have a clouded reflection of the contents of our dreams, and in the state of dream, we can also become aware that we are dreaming and that our bodies lie asleep in another place. "Chicago Window" is a work about the portal between dreams and regular life, as we see in the reflection of the dream, a glimmer of going to work in the morning.

Description:

Raspberry Morning came about because of the last image in a dream, from which I was was suddenly awakened, continued to float in my mind. I have no idea what the dream was about, but tried to capture the other-world feeling about it.

Title: Mad Crone's Dream Mad Crone's Dream
Artist: SkyDancer
WWW Site: http://www.skydancers.com
Description:

Mad Crone's Dream is a product of my imagination, since I don't consider myself either a crone OR mad (though there are those who might argue about that last part). On the other hand, actual dreams can be filled with all sorts of odd and sometimes disturbing images that have the disconcerting habit of melting into one another (this is especially so if you have partaken of odd and disturbing food-combinations before bed). The image was created mostly in Painter, with an occasional side trip to PhotoShop. The original art is 12" x 18 " (or, at 150 ppi, 1880 x 2700), so this reduced-size image does not really show all of the more subtle detail.
Title: Past Dreams Past Dreams
Artist: Jo-Anne Mason
WWW Site: http://net.ai/joart/
Description:

I created "Past Dreams" in Painter 5.5 using an image created with floaters and flattened. Several more layers were added and combined. I cloned the first version saving the layers in the original, reworked the original and then combined the two images. My dreams are often vague and complex, full of color and constant scene.
Title: Changeling Changeling
Artist: Adriela
WWW Site: none
Description:

Adriela is one half of A&A Studios. The image Changeling, is part dream, part imagination. The creature himself was done based on descriptive writing a friend supplied about an ancient faerie, and it was a challenge to see if my own dreams of him matched the author's. The door image to the left, symbolizes the door to darker aspects of any nature..half in and out of shadow. The image was narrowed down by Corel as one of ten finalists in the People, Plants and Animals category for October/November, and though it did not make the final cut, I was thrilled an image this dark was selected at all.
