I used the preset gradient "Expressive Green" in a circular pattern over a dark green canvas and applied depth of field. Then I applied glass distortion and surface original luminance. I cloned the orig. and applied blobs. Then I reapplied depth of field to the clone. I selected and floated the green blobs and applied "Expressive" Green again, this time in a rectangular pattern. Then I applied glass distortion to the blobs and dropped the floater.

Used gradients, lasso, pixel dust, water brush, floater, selection, quick warp, sharpen, apply surface texture, fill and custom brushes. Hope I haven't left anything out.

Artist: Harold Covey
WWW Site: http://www.i1.net/~hcovey/
Techniques:

Paint Bucket set to Gradient fill, Blobs, Express Texture, Zoom Blur, Image Warp, and Express Gradient in Image. NO brush work was utilized whatsoever. I did make ample use of floaters, transforming the orientation and compositing method of the stacked layers. Selective alterations using masks was also helpful.

I tried to adhere to the rules, but used some text, one brush stroke and a few star selections to bring a little order to the choas that was developing on the ground plane. My favorite part about the paint bucket/gradient fill is that you can rarely predict how much of an existing gradient will be filled when you click in it. Makes for some bizarro eye fodder.
Title: Stairway to Heaven, and Back Stairway to Heaven, and Back
Artist: Dwyn Tomlinson

Techniques:

I started with the "quilt" pattern, and filled the canvas. Then, I filled each colored square (who CHOSE those colors for the quilt pattern, man are they ugly -- no offence) with a gradient fill. Most are the pre-defined. Some I created. It is very frustrating to not be able to edit the existing gradients. I also like the way that the gradient fill works in PS, with the click and drag to set center, direction, and edge padding.
