Gradients Exhibit
Overview
This exhibit was inspired by a recent passionate argument on
the PAINTER-L mailing list concerning the appropriation of
elements (up to and including an entire image) of other people's work in
the creation of one's own artwork, digital or otherwise.
Someone (who?) posed the question about the use of predefined patterns,
gradients, nozzles, etc in image creation. The (straw-man) argument was basically, that if we couldn't
create orginal art if we used elements of other people's artwork, then we shouldn't be able to create
something unique by using preset widgits found in our favorite digital tools.
Skydancer suggested we all try to create original art using only a particular type of widgit, such as gradients.
So we decided to put this to the test of our collective talents. The images contained in this gallery are subject to the following rules. Feel free to contribute to this exhibit!

Guidelines for image creation
- Use only Fractal Design Painter to create your image.
- Start with a blank canvas, though it need not be white.
- For the gradients used in the image, use only the preset gradients that come with Painter. No KPT gradients or others
- The elements in the image must be primarily composed of gradients. Other tools can be used, but try to keep it to a minimum.
- These are guidelines, not rules so have fun!
